"Everything is Illuminated"

This weekend brought the finishing of "Everything is Illuminated" by Jonathan Safran Foer. This book was sort of advertised as a book about the Holocaust, but it's really not. Sure, it's mentioned near the end, but it is not the main tenant of the book. It's a story of a man who is searching for the woman who saved his grandfather from the Nazis. The book quickly moves to include two other story lines. One, the book the man (Jonathan, also the name of the author) is about his family's history in the Ukraine and second, the letters of the translator used in the Ukraine to describe Jonathan's visit there. This book was pretty interesting and followed a rather non-traditional path, which was a nice change of pace from the "usual" novel. This book is rumored to become a movie and I'd be interested to see who they would pull that off!

Up next: Recommendation from Jacinta (again, she has a great library!) "Barrell Fever" by David Sedaris.

Vacation Update: 5 more days till lift off!
